A: VLDL subfractions – no significant changes were seen in VLDL particle number with either simvastatin or fenofibrate therapy. B: LDL subfractions – both simvastatin and fenofibrate reduce total LDL particle numbers. The reduction was higher with simvastatin than fenofibrate (as illustrated by the uppermost bar). There was a significant increase in the large LDL-P subfraction with fenofibrate. Small LDL particle numbers tend to reduce with both therapies.
